Kangana Ranaut shared that it was “uncanny” to demolish her house as she shot for her latest released film Thalaivii

Kangana Ranaut is all set for her Tamil debut with the Jayalalithaa biopic in the movie, Thalaivii. Her look in the film is highly loved by fans and in a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, the actress revealed how an incident in the film matched her real life.  AL Vijay spearheaded the film, Thalaivii features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.

Kangana Ranaut narrated the terrible incident that happened while she was promoting her film. She told HT, “It is actually uncanny that when we were shooting these scenes, when Jaya amma was assaulted in the assembly, Shiv Sena was breaking into my house. It was happening exactly around the same time. I was on the set and shooting these scenes (assembly assault), this drama was going on in Mumbai. I felt like real and reel life are clashing into each other,” Kangana said.

Jayalalithaa, on March 25, 1989, was assaulted in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and in that instance Jayalalithaa’s saree was torn. On this, actor Kangana Ranaut said, to Hindustan Times that, ““I do want to believe that Jaya amma has chosen me to play her role because somewhere she sees me as a strong woman,” she said, adding that, she’s also a powerful woman like Jayalalithaa and quite stubborn.

Kangana Ranaut received some backlash when she was finalised for the role in the biopic but, director Vijay stood for the actress and said to Hindustan Times in a recent interview, “This is a pan India film, and Kangana is apt for the role. She is one of the biggest stars in India today and I think it is right that a top star plays the role of an important politician. This way, the story will also reach audiences across India. We consider this a pan-Indian film, not a regional one.”

On the professional front, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in the sports drama film Panga. However, as Kangana is seen in a unique avatar in the movie Thalaivii, it is much anticipated by one and all.
