We as an audience love to watch movies, shows, or any content with a suspense build-up. We love living in the thrill and having our minds blown by its climax. However, a bigger shock comes when the climax hits us with the most unexpected thing – the protagonist, or one of the lead characters, turning out to be the main culprit. And especially when the lead character is suffering throughout the film, the fact that they are the main culprit is a revelation that we never see coming. To flesh out this idea a bit more, here is a list of some of the shows and movies on ZEE5, where the lead character was revealed to be the main villain in the end. Oh, and spoilers ahead… be warned!

The Wife

The Wife, starring Gurmeet Chaudhary and Sayani Datta is the latest film on ZEE5, belonging to the horror genre. The film revolves around the story of a couple, who is haunted by a woman’s spirit. When they proceed to solve the issue, Varun (Gurmeet Chaudhary), one of the two lead characters, shares a story from his past of how he was forcibly married off to a mysterious girl and how his brother abused and almost killed the girl, whose spirit was now haunting them. However, the climax reveals that it was actually Varun who had harmed the girl and led her spirit to haunt them for vengeance.

Alone

Alone is another horror film, and it stars Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. It narrates the story of conjoined twin sisters, Sanjana and Anjana (Bipasha Basu), who had fallen for the same man, Kabir (Karan Singh Grover). However, Kabir only loved Sanjana, which made Anjana jealous. In a mysterious turn of events we see that Anjana dies, and years later, Sanjana marries Kabir. This causes Anjana’s spirit to haunt them and it ultimately creates troubles in their lives. The climax of Alone reveals that it was actually Sanjana’s spirit that was haunting, because Anjana had killed her and tricked Kabir into marrying her, posing as Sanjana.

Judgementall Hai Kya

Judgementall Hai Kya is a psycho-thriller film, starring Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao. The film revolves around the story of Bobby (Kangana Ranaut), who hallucinates due to a mental illness. She comes face to face with Keshav (Rajkummar Rao), who she thinks of as a psychopathic serial killer. However, Keshav keeps telling the world that Bobby is only hallucinating all of this, and easily convinces everyone that he is a normal innocent guy. The climax of the film reveals that Keshav is actually a serial killer.

Dev DD 2

Dev DD 2, starring Asheema Vardaan, Sanjay Suri, and Aman Uppal in the lead roles, is a rom-com web series on ZEE5, with elements of thrill and suspense. Sanjay Suri plays the role of a journalist in the show, who is trying to bust a racket of female foeticide. Devika (Asheema Vardaan) also gets involved in solving the case, after her friend dies due to this scam. Aman Uppal plays the role of Paritosh in the show, who is an ophthalmologist. The climax of the show reveals that it was actually Paritosh who was heading the female foeticide operation in an esteemed hospital.

Love, Scandal & Doctors

LSD: Love, Scandal & Doctors, is a suspense thriller show on ZEE5, starring Siddharth Menon, Tanya Sachdeva, Ishaan Khanna, Srishti Ganguli Rindani, Ayush Shrivastava, and Rahul Dev in the lead roles. The show revolves around the story of a patient who gets murdered in a reputed hospital, and the blame for his murder falls on five medical interns. However, the climax of the show reveals that it was actually the hospital’s dean (Rahul Dev), who killed the patient. He also killed one of the interns and his own daughter for his selfish gains.

Gupt

Gupt, starring Kajol, Bobby Deol, and Manisha Koirala, is one of the most loved thriller films of the Hindi film industry. The film revolves around the murder of a prominent politician (Raj Babbar), the blame for which, falls on his stepson Sahil (Bobby Deol), who had gotten into an argument with him, regarding his marriage. After a series of misadventures, Sahil finds out that it was actually Isha (Kajol) who had killed his stepfather because he did not let Sahil get married to her.

Table No. 21

Table No. 21 is an unconventional mystery thriller film, starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Tena Desae, and Paresh Rawal. The film revolves around the story of a couple, Vivaan and Siya (Rajeev and Tena), who is lured into playing a game, by Paresh Rawal. While the game seems harmless at first, it later becomes a means of torture for the couple. The climax of the film reveals that Khan lured the couple to the game and tortured them for his revenge. Vivaan and Siya, in their college days, had bullied and tortured Khan’s son, making him mentally unstable for which Khan was seeking revenge.
