Based on Maha Malik’s best-selling novel of the same name and directed by Yasir Nawaz, the story begins with an age-old widower, Waqar Ali (Qavi Khan) and his three dutiful daughters, Elma (Ayeza), Neha and Sonia. A common man, Waqar works in a factory owned by his cousin Muzaffar Hassan (Mehmood Akhtar). While Muzaffar is a typical businessman with a greedy mindset, his elder son, Ramish (Imran) is a man with a golden heart. Tired of his father’s atrocities against his employees, Ramish keeps raising his concerns for their welfare.
The mesmerizing chemistry between Elma and Ramish begins when he drops his ailing Waqar chacha home and meets his beautiful daughter, Elma. It is surely love at first sight when Ramish cannot take his eyes off Elma. The actors fit their roles like gloves and for us, the highlight of the series is the amazing recurring chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas. They hold the audience with each of their presence. Although they share the frame for a few minutes only, those magical moments are the definite high points of the series.
The ravishing Ayeza Khan makes a fresh entry with this series but Imran, as usual, is very comfortable in his romantic avatar. The drama also introduces us to Zarbab’s (Ali Abbas) family headed by a dominating mother, Sharafat Begum (Hina Khawaja Bayat). Zarbab is the sole bread-winner of his family and has a soft corner for his sister’s friend, Javeria. But, Elma gets married to Zarbab after Ramish’s family rejects her. Zarbab’s mother keeps an eye on her daughter-in-law’s activities as she tries to get over her lost love and compromises in this marriage.
Among the senior actors, Qavi Khan and Mehmood Akhtar look convincing in their roles but it Hina Bayat who stole the show with her impeccable acting. She opted for the unusual role of a middle-class dominating mother and thoroughly impressed us. Be it Ayeza Khan’s beautiful presence, Imran Abbas’ sober demeanour or Maha Malik’s engaging script, you will love every bit. Intelligently dramatized by Yasir Nawaz, the director’s experience in filmmaking turns the drama into a visual delight and is a testimonial of his sheer brilliance.
The original soundtrack sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan adds further charm to the series. Watch out for the second episode wherein Ramish confesses his feelings of love for Elma to his parents.
