Paurushpur: Here Is Why We Think Milind Soman Is a Real-Life Boris Who Supports Women Empowerment
Web SeriesRead below to find out why we think actor Milind Soman is a feminist like his character Boris from Paurushpur in real life too
ZEE5’s new original web series Paurashpur is all set to launch in December. It is based on the higher echelons of the fictional kingdom Paurashpur and has a very promising cast that includes Milind Soman, Shilpa Shinde, Shaheer Sheikh, Anant V Joshi, and more. In the period drama, Milind Soman plays the role of a revolutionist named Boris who strongly believes that both men and women are equal and they both deserve to be treated equally. He is a feminist of sorts and often raises burning questions that nobody else dares to ask in a patriarchal society.

We think that the makers could not have chosen a more apt person than model and Actor Milind Soman to play the role of Boris. Just like Boris who believes in gender equality, Milind Soman too on multiple platforms has shared his views on the subject of gender equality and has raised important questions related to it. He is also a feminist who devotes a major portion of his time to Women’s fitness through Pinkathon.
Pinkathon is reportedly India’s biggest Women’s run and is founded by Milind Soman along with Reema Sanghvi. The run is aimed to encourage women to get together and learn from each other about how to lead an active lifestyle. According to the 55-year-old star, this run is not about the distance or speed, but more about ‘taking some time to focus on ourselves emotionally, physically, and mentally’. This initiative taken by Milind provides a platform for women to empower themselves. We really think he might just be a bit of Boris in real life too who does not fear the colour “pink” but empowers it.

Milind has also been very vocal about his strong views on rape. He has openly stated on Twitter that “Rape, even more than murder, is against anything that society or civilization stands for. Punishment for rape should be death”. While we cannot comment whether he is right or not, we can surely say that he does not fear voicing his thoughts on a serious issue that many women face, much like Boris on the show. Just like this, he has spoken about other issues too like unequal wage difference for men and women, women oppression, and more.
He has also defended his wife when she was mercilessly trolled for marrying someone much elder to her. The two tied the knot in 2018 when he was 52 and she was 26. Ever since then, they have faced a lot of trolling for their age gap. Milind shut the trollers by stating that he does not consider the age gap to be a problem between them. He is more focused on the importance of making her feel comfortable and ‘helping her achieve goals’
Apart from female fitness activism, it must also be taken into consideration that roles played by Milind like that of a doctor on a female-centric show or being a judge on a reality TV show based on fashion. These are indicators that he does not shy away from things that are stereotypically not considered “manly” and this further goes on to prove that he believes one can do whatever they aspire to, irrespective of their gender.
Milind often encourages today’s youth towards body fitness by sharing videos of his 82-year-old mother exercising. He has kept his mother’s name Usha as his middle name which is different from the otherwise common practice of keeping the father’s name as the middle name. What do you think this suggests?
We just cannot wait to see what his character Boris has in store for us on Zee5’s gripping new show Paurashpur.
