Throughout the episodic saga, we are driven into two different worlds major Deep Singh is a part of, one of his triumphs in the military field and the other one being the victim of personal tragedies.

Most of the war dramas revolve around tragedies of war, the bravery of army men on the battlefield, or the hardships common people tackle with the backdrop of a war. And these elements together make a war drama engaging and worth watching. While some movies/TV shows capture the epic moments from history, the others are based on the inspiring life story of real-life heroes. Similarly, ZEE5’s latest release Jeet Ki Zid essays an unbelievable-yet-true story tributing former Indian Army Major Deependra Singh Sengar’s bravery and dedication.

Throughout the episodic saga, we are driven into two different worlds major Deep Singh is a part of, one of his triumphs in the military field and the other one being the victim of personal tragedies. Both the sides of his story eventually shape him as an inspiring persona whose story stands out as an inspiration to many.

And here’s how Jeet Ki Zid beautifully weaves two battles of Deep Singh together, making this war drama one of its kind.

The storytelling format of the show paces between flashbacks and the present, making it more interesting and suspense-driven. The first episode itself where Deep masterfully executes a plan to save the school children from the trap of militants gives us a brief insight into Deep’s character, further keeping us rooted in his story.

While the flashbacks give us an insight into his epic journey into the military, the present focuses on the different chapters of his on-field bravery. The Kargil War episode becomes a life changer for Deep Singh. On one side, he sets himself against the opponents, making his intent of ‘never giving up’ quite clear, while on the other hand, the same episode makes him chained to a wheelchair for a lifetime.

His complete dedication and the attitude of never giving up resembled his victory over the battlefield.

Deep’s motive of joining the army was to finish off all the enemies across the border and this rage comes from a past tragedy of losing his loving brother at the hands of a militant group. While this rage keeps him on his toes on the battlefield, it nearly drives his sanity after being bound to a wheelchair.

The uncertain shift in his life comes as a shocker and dealing with his ego becomes quite a difficult task for him. Surrounded by all these tragedies, his devoted wife Jaya (Amrita Puri) stands as a backbone in his journey ahead. This off-field battle seems uneasy for Deep and Col. Chaudhury (Sushant Singh) becomes a guiding light.

From being an aggressive major to realizing the value of  “conversation” Deep’s life takes a much-needed turn making him more mature as a person. Clearing management studies with a lot of hardships, Deep triumphs in the world of corporate too, yet unaware of “real success” his journey continues to go on, exploring new aspects of life.

Deep’s journey through the army and then shifting in a corporate world essays the real-life battles we all lead in our real-lives. And hence, Jeet Ki Zid is one of the most uniquely appealing war dramas essaying two battles.
