Sankranti or Makar Sankranti is one of the most celebrated festivals in the entire country but its craze is a little different in Southern India. It is a festival of harvest that creates a lot of excitement in the Telugu movie industry as the public is in celebratory mood. Hence movie makers always look up for releasing their movies around that time. As it is Diwali that is pre-booked for the Bollywood movie makers, the festival of Sankranti is the same for Tollywood.

Next year’s Sankranti has some big movies lined up for the audiences. We get Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer ‘Radhe Shyam’,  ‘Bheemla Nayak’ starring Rana Daggubati and Pawan Kalyan in the lead roles, and last but not the least, the NTR and Ram Charan starrer and the multi-lingual, RRR on the list. RRR’s release is awaited not only in Tollywood but also in Bollywood.

All of this traffic in one season gives a lot of trick to analysts too on their speculation about the business a movie could possibly do at the box office. According to sources, some of the box office analysts have also started to bet on the collection different movies would make. While some expect few of the movie makers to delay the release date of their projects.

It was the effect of this jam packed continuous releases that the makers of Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sarkaru vaari paata’ pushed forward the release date of the film to April. As it has been observed in the previous trends, a Telugu movie makes much more business during Sankranti than during any other festival because of the fact that the movie enthusiasts prefer watching movies in the cinema hall at this time. This makes movie makers struggle to get the release date during the said festival.

Seeing the tough competition it is now it is for fans to look forward to what movie they will be able to watch and for which movie they will have to suffer a delay, due to an expected step back that some movie makers may take.
