Flashback Friday: Did You Know Govinda And Salman Khan Were Once Humiliated By Raj Kumar?

Veteran actor Raj Kumar is popularly known for his roles in films like Rangeeli, Mother India and Humraaz. He was also known for his dialogue delivery and his unique style. The actor had once humiliated Govinda on the sets of their film. He had also embarrassed Salman Khan at an after-party of his film Maine Pyaar Kiya. Here’s what exactly happened between them.

Govinda gifted his shirt to Raj Kumar 

Bollywood actor Govinda had got an opportunity in 1988 to work with superstar Raj Kumar for his film Jungbaaz. Govinda was new in the industry and was extremely flattered by Raj Kumar’s style. Raj Kumar is known for being honest with his opinions. He never lied to people and was always seen speaking whatever was on his mind. He was also known for insulting his co-actors several times. They had to think twice before starting a conversation with Raj Kumar.

One day, Govinda went up to Raj Kumar to introduce himself on the set of the film. Raj Kumar glanced at him from top to bottom and complimented his shirt. Govinda was overwhelmed by the compliment. He went to his makeup room, took that shirt off and gifted it to Raj Kumar as a present. A few days later, when the two had to shoot for the film again, he saw that the shirt he had gifted with loads of respect and love was being used by Raj Kumar as a handkerchief. Raj Kumar cut the shirt off to make a set of handkerchiefs. Govinda felt bad after looking at him clean his nose.

Salman Khan was insulted at a party 

In 1998, Salman Khan‘s film Maine Pyaar Kiya received huge commercial success. To celebrate the same, the director of the film Sooraj Barjatya had invited several Bollywood actors to a success party. He had also invited veteran actor Raj Kumar to the party. He wanted to meet the actors of the film. Sooraj introduced Salman to Raj Kumar. However, Salman could not recognise him and asked him his name. Listening to Salman ask him his name, Raj Kumar asked him to go ask his father and come back. Salman was extremely embarrassed by the same. After that event, whenever the two attended an event, Salman made sure he first met the veteran actor. Rajkumar passed away on 3rd July, 1996.
