IPL 2021: Cricketers Rishabh Pant And Sanju Samson to Make Their Debut As Team Captains This Year

IPL 2021 is right around the corner and several teams have chosen their captains for this year’s game. With various changes and modifications in team structure and players, the audience of IPL 2021 will see two cricketers making their debuts as their respective team’s captains. While one is Rishabh Pant, who will lead Delhi Capitals, the other player is Sanju Samson who will lead Rajasthan Royals this year.

It was recently revealed that the Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant will be leading his team as its captain in this year’s IPL tournament. Being chosen as the captain of the Delhi Capitals team, the player will make his IPL captaincy debut this year. Following the exit of Shreyas Iyer, former captain of Delhi Capitals, due to his upcoming surgery and the following mandatory resting period, Rishabh Pant will take over the leadership responsibilities of the team in IPL 2021 matches.

Another popular Indian cricketer, Sanju Samson, will also be making his IPL captaincy debut this year. Post the release of the team’s former captain, Steve Smith, from the team itself, Sanju Samson has been chosen to lead the team of Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2021 games. Rajasthan Royals will be playing its first match against Kings XI Punjab on April 21, 2021.

A few other cricketers such as Steve Smith, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, and even Ajinkya Rahane were being considered to be close contenders for the position of captain of the Delhi Capitals team. However, Rishabh was finalised for the same. The team Delhi Capitals has been known for putting their trust in the younger players, which could have played a prominent role in this decision making.
