Kangana Ranaut Files A Plea In Bombay High Court For Passport Renewal
Trending NewsAs per the reports, the authorities have declined Kangana Ranaut’s application for passport renewal. And hence she has now approached the Bombay High Court.
Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut filed a plea with the Bombay High Court, seeking directions to authorities to renew her passport. Reportedly, the actor wants to head abroad for the shooting of a film. Kangana’s passport is set to expire by September and thus she had applied for its renewal to the Passport Authority Of India. However, the authorities raised objections due to an FIR filed against the actor by the Bandra Police.
Last week, Kangana Ranaut filed an interim application through her advocate Rizwan Siddiquee. It stated that the actor needs to fly to Hungary for the shoot of her film ‘Dhaakad’. As per her plea, the authorities have declined her application for passport renewal. They stated the Bandra FIR as the reason behind the impediment of renewal. “There are huge monetary investments made by production houses in booking such shooting locations, wherein the applicant is required to participate as an actress,” the plea read.
Talking about the FIR, last year in October, a case was registered against Kangana and her sister Rangoli Chandel. They were booked by the Bandra police under sedition charges. The complaint was filed by the casting director Munawwar Ali Sayyed. He accused Kangana and Rangoli of defaming Bollywood and spreading “division and hatred between Hindu and Muslim communities”.
The FIR was filed with reference to series of tweets made by the actor and her sister. Also, the court had directed the Bandra police to charge Kangana Ranaut and her sister under IPC sections 153A, 295A, and 124-A.
Reportedly, the plea filed by Kangana will now be heard on June 25. Earlier, the court remarked Kangana’s application as “vague”. Furthermore, the bench stated that Kangana should have applied with “all details” in advance.
