Review: Biye.com is a humorous rollercoaster ride about an urban couple’s love story

The latest Bengali romantic comedy film Biye.com just released on  ZEE5. The film is another enjoyable romantic piece by the eminent director duo Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha, known for their ability to beautifully narrate young-urban stories of love and relationships. This new entertainer is a sweet modern-day love story about the union of two extremely different people, Ayan and Shreya, who stumble upon each other on a matrimonial site.

Biye.com stars Bonny Sengupta and Koushani Mukherjee in the lead, who play the roles of Ayan and Shreya, respectively. The already superhit on-screen couple are seen paired opposite each other in the film while Payel Sarkar stars as Riya and Joey Debroy as Shubho. They play the roles of Ayan and Shreya’s friends in it. In the film, Riya and Shubho are a couple who help Ayan in the process of finding the girl he could potentially get married to.

Ayan (played by Bonny Sengupta) is a shy man who finds it difficult to interact with women, let alone get involved with anyone of them romantically. Although he is not too old, his family is worried about his marriage and tries several ideas to get him going with girls in the hopes that something will work out. When Ayan shares his struggles with his colleague and friend Shubho, he decides to help him. Shubho sets up a page for Ayan on a matrimonial site with some photoshopped pictures and a couple of other fake details which he thinks will attract women to Ayan. When Shreya’s mom notices his page and proposes that Ayan and Shreya meet, they agree. They end up bonding with each other over various dates that Ayan takes her out on too see Kolkata, as Shreya is from Mumbai.

Things begin going downhill when Shreya finds out that Ayan lied to her about the photos and has never been to European countries. Ayan, on the other hand, tries his best to apologise for not owning up to the lies early enough. It takes Ayan a while to win her heart back as she hates liars, but Ayan eventually manages to do so with the help of their friends and family. But does their love saga end on a happy note finally? This love story is a simple narration about the relationship of two people who meet each other through an online site and how their relationship unfolds with time.
