Sembaruthi: These Instances Prove How Akhila Can Be Toxic At Times

The popular TV show Sembaruthi majorly revolves around Parvathy and how her life changed after she married Adithya. One of the main aspects of the show is how Parvathy charms her mother-in-law Akhila, to have an amicable equation with her. However, Akhila never accepts her for who she is and has a tendency of being toxic.

She cares too much about her honour 

The only reason Akhilandeswari has a hard time with Parvathy is because she belonged to a lesser privileged class. Akhila thinks that Parvathy can never blend with her family and match with her class and social group because she isn’t capable of it. She invalidates her son’s decision because he chose to be with someone who belongs to a different background. Her honour comes in the way of her family’s happiness more often than not.

She enforces her decisions on people 

Remember how she made Mahesh get engaged to Varsha because Rajeshwari asked for Akhila’s help? She doesn’t care about what makes people happy, as long as she gets her way with things. She would rather have someone be unhappy and follow her orders, than letting them be happy. It was also not called for as she meddled in Mahesh’s personal life, because he isn’t from her family too.

She is rarely warm to new people

Her first instinct with new people is to be stoic in front of them, no matter how nervous or scared they are. She never tries to make them comfortable, and takes a lot of time for her to even care about people. Akhila feels like she has an image that she wants to maintain at all times.
