1. Ek Akasher Niche

Ek Akasher Niche first ran on TV more than 20 years ago, and remains an all-time favourite even today! Directed by Ravi Ojha, it is a popular Bengali drama series which explores the everyday life of a large Bengali joint family– their joys and sorrows, and their pride and honour. Ek Akasher Niche featured an extensive star cast with actors like Saswata Chatterjee, Chaiti Ghoshal, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Swastika Mukherjee.

2. Joyee

Joyee is a Bengali TV serial which starred Alo Chhaya actor Debadrita Basu in the lead. The plot revolves around the titular protagonist Joyee, a simple girl from the village who is an orphan. She dreams of becoming a professional football player, but gets married into a conservative family who is against the sport! Will Joyee give up on her dreams? 3. Subarnalata

Subarnalata is all about a girl of the same name (and nicknamed Subarno), who is brought up by her very progressive mother, Satyabati. Satyabati is determined to provide her daughter with a sound education and enrols her into a private school. However, Subarno is tricked into marriage at nine years old, even against her mother’s wishes, and the classic TV serial explores her life, adventures and struggles.

4. Goyenda Ginni

The Zee Bangla TV serial Goyenda Ginni ran from 2015 to 2016, and will always remain a favourite! Starring veteran actor Indrani Haldar as the protagonist Parama Mitra, Goyenda Ginni was an exciting Bengali detective TV show where Parama Mitra, a housewife, becomes a brilliant detective! She lived a dual life and solves difficult criminal cases with ease with the help of Inspector Arup Roy (played by Indrajit Bose).

5. Nakshi Kantha

The Zee Bangla TV serial Nakshi Kantha recently completed almost 400 episodes before ending and going off-air. It garnered a huge fan following! Nakshi Kantha is about the star-crossed lovers Jash (played by actor Suman Dey) and Shabnam (played by Manali Dey), who were cruelly torn apart by the evil Rohini (played by Sneha Chatterjee Bhowmik), who never stopped conspiring against them. Rohini wanted Jash only to herself, and went to extreme lengths to make that happen! Find out what finally happens to Jash and Shabnam by watching the show.
