Throwback Thursday: Why did the police come to arrest Chhaya in Alo Chhaya?

The plot of the latest Zee Bangla TV serial Alo Chhaya continues to thicken with every passing day! Now that Chhaya (played by Oindrila Bose) is married to Baban, the matter of exposing his vile crimes has become a lot more complicated for Alo (played by Debadrita Basu). The whole situation is delicate enough as it were, with Baban being a member of the Sengupta family (and yet causing so much damage to them). Alo already looks like the bad guy in the eyes of the Senguptas, who think she is is hell bent on vilifying the poor fellow for no fault of his at all. Only Akash (played by Arnab Banerjee), Alo’s husband, believes his wife and supports her fully in her investigations. However, now that Baban has gone so far as to threaten to kill Chhaya if he so wishes, Alo and Akash are a lot more hesitant in their approach!

In the previous episode, Alo and Akash get to know that Baban regularly gives Chhaya drugs to consume, which are both illegal and addictive! Understandably, Alo is totally devastated by this shocking new piece of evidence. She hasn’t stopped fearing for her best friend’s life ever since Baban came into it, and her anxiety has only worsened with all the latest developments. After this particular discovery, Alo cannot help herself and begs Tirthankar Sengupta, Akash’s father, to summon the police so this matter can be dealt with.

When the police arrive, they take the matter very seriously indeed, but there is another twist in store for us. While they find the illegal drugs alright, it is Chhaya who tearfully confesses that she has been the one to buy them and take them– all of her own volition! Of course, we all know that this is simply not true, and she is covering up for her beloved Baban who has clearly got her exactly where she wants him. However, after Chhaya makes this claim, the policeman says that he has no choice but to arrest Chhaya and take her away! At this, Chhaya sobs even more but agrees and asks the cop to arrest her if he wants to, while the rest of the family watches on in complete shock.
