Vijay and Rashmika’s performances 

Geetha Govindam was made at a time when Vijay Deverakonda was more popular for roles that were rugged and raw. He managed to prove his diversity as an actor, with his portrayal of Govind. Govind was someone who had great regard for his culture and incorporated bits of it into his daily life. He also treated women like they would like to be treated in real life. Vijay surely nailed it at portraying Govind’s character.

On the other hand, Rashmika also played a strong woman whose character was written authentically. When Govind accidentally kissed her, upon not knowing the truth, she reacted as any other girl would, and got angry. If this was a token commercial film, she would probably fall in love with him after that happened, but we love how they drove the message of consent.

Geetha Govindam is a classic because it shattered the norms of having to be urban to be respectful of a woman’s consent. All the characters in Geetha Govindam are actually based out of small towns and villages, but they are all broad-minded and know how to treat women as human beings. We love that they chose to set it in a rural background, and say that our culture does not actually advocate a regressive attitude against women.

These are songs that will always live with us, and the movie is always synonymous with these songs.
