Will Smith and Jada Pickett Smith’s is not a monogamous marriage, reveals Prince of Bel-Air

Will Smith recently acknowledged that he and his wife of 25 years, Jada Pinkett Smith have decided to have an open relationship, which involves having a sexual or romantic relationship outside the marriage or main one. The relationship status of stars is always under scrutiny with fans being the third wheel in the entire relationship. If both couples in a relationship are celebrities in their own right, then double the trouble. The pressure of being nothing less than role models even in personal life can be taxing. And the courage to acknowledge unconventional relationships is even more inspiring.

The need for an Open Relation

Last year artist August Alsina (28) had revealed that he had an affair with the 50 year old actress in the year 2015 all with the knowledge of Will Smith. When questioned about the news, Jada had at first tried to deny it. Later on in a Red Table Talk Jada admitted to their relationship which occurred at a time when the actress and Will Smith were supposedly separated. The Smith Couple later reconciled. Now in an interview, Will Smith seems to be referring to the above fact while trying to explain their relationship status.

The beginning of their relation

Will Smith married Jada Pinkett Smith in 1997. The two actors met when Jada auditioned for the role of girlfriend of Will Smith’s character in the movie, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. They also went on to have two children in this marriage, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith. 

In the interview Will Smith admitted that for the longest time, his marriage was monogamous by choice. However, as time passed it began to feel suffocating like being in a prison. Moreover, Jada had seen unconventional relationships in and around her family circle. This propelled them to try having an open relationship. He has even had an extra-marital relationship but refused to elaborate on it.
