Abataar- A Comedy-action Odia Remake

Abataar is a comical-action movie that highlights the story of a savior who rescues the inhabitants of a small village from a deadly disease. This movie is actually the Odia dub of the Telugu movie,’Khaleja’. Abataar or Avatar. The movie delivered the concept of hope wrapped with action sequences and comedy to its viewers.

Important Details of Abataar Movie

Abataar movie was released in 2010 and later dubbed in Odia language. The duration of this movie is 2 hours and 26 minutes. Abataar cast includes Mahesh Babu (as Raju the taxi driver), Prakash Raj (as villain GK), Anushka Shetty (as Subhashini), Sunil (as Babji) and many more. The movie was directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by Singanamala Ramesh Babu.

Abataar Movie Plot

The plot of this movie definitely resembles lore. It revolves around a village named Pali in Andhra Pradesh, where a series of mysterious deaths plagued the villagers with fear. The storyline of Abataar movie starts when an array of events bring Raju (played by Mahesh Babu) to end up in the village Pali after being wounded by a bunch of henchmen.

This was a consequence of protecting Subashini (the female lead played by Anushka Shetty) from GK (who apparently wants Subhashini to be his daughter-in-law). GK is the main villain of the entire story as he turns out to be the reason for the death of Pali’s villagers.

The story reaches the climax when Raju is revealed to the belief that he was a God sent from far lands to protect the people of Pali from this plague; as predicted by the village Tantrik. Meanwhile, Raju discovers the motive of GK who wants to take over Subhashini’s father’s sugarcane to create more plastic for his industrial profits.

Realizing this, Raju figures out another mystery; the reason why the people of Pali were dying consecutively. It was GK’s machinery that released toxic waste into the river from where the villagers drank.

After a stretch of events that signified GK’s future plans to mine ‘iridium’ from the village of Pali illegally, Raju confronts GK face to face for ending his plans.

Surprisingly within all the chase and hustle, GK dies when a religious hanging knife drops from a village tree. The protagonist then fights the henchmen of the greedy industrialist and kills them.

Coincidentally, the entire situation matches the predictions of the village Tantrik hence, ending the cataclysmic plague completely as Raju continues to be the hero of Pali village. Abataar director or rather Khaleja director Trivikram Srinivas did a decent job with the movie’s entire presentation and cast selection.

The Performance of The Lead Cast

The overall performance of Abataar’s cast was decent. We could see Mahesh Babu cracking a few jokes while maintaining his stern attitude when confronting GK. Speaking of GK, Prakash Raj did not have much screen time but he definitely did his part well with a part-comedy and part-sinister approach. Although a bit of script improvisation and conceptualization could’ve made the movie worth the budget but it did a decent job in entertaining the audience.
