Dulhan: A Tale of Loss and Acceptance

Dulhan is a suspense film about a girl named Radha (played by Hema Malini), whose husband Vijay (played by Jeetendra) died in a river accident. The movie shows how she has forgotten about his death due to shock. The villagers and her brother Keshav lie to her about her husband's death to accommodate her. 

It later becomes a problem as Ashok, who resembles Vijay in terms of looks, visits the village, and Radha understands Vijay. 

The Dulhan director, C. V. Rajendran, brings a movie about a widow Radha, who has lost her memories and still thinks her husband is alive. The film deals with the prospect of coming to terms with grief and accepting it.

Dulhan is a Hindi Bollywood film that stars Hema Malini, Ashok Kumar, Jamuna, and Jeetendra as the main leads. 

Dulhan Movie Plot

Doctor Ashok, played by Jeetendra, is a psychiatrist married to Padma. The film begins with him visiting a village where he meets Radha. Radha was married to Vijay, but unfortunately, he died by capsizing in a river. Radha loses her memories when she learns about Vijay's death and still thinks he is alive.

Ashok has no idea why Radha confuses him with Vijay. He later learns from her brother Keshav about her husband and how he resembles him. The villagers and Keshav pretend that Vijay is still alive and that Radha is waiting for him to return. 

Learning this, Ashok decides to take Radha to the city with him and treat her. Padma is not happy with Radha coming to live with them. Soon, Padma realizes Radha's condition and complies with the treatment. 

Later, Radha realizes that Ashok and Padma are married and learns the truth about Vijay dying. She takes it with a brave heart and goes back to the village. In the end, we see Radha visiting Vijay's grave and taking her last breath by his side.

Dulhan Cast Performance

Hema Malini is one of the greatest actors of all time. She has proven this with countless performances in movies like Sholay, Baghban, Johny Mera Naam, etc. In this movie, too, she beautifully portrays the character of Radha, who is struck by a tragedy by the death of her husband. 

The performances of other cast members were great and worthy of praise. They gave the roles a convincing tone, where we feel sympathy for the characters.
