Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh make the power couple in the Bollywood industry. They will be sharing the screen space together for the first time after their marriage in the upcoming cricket biopic film 83. In the film, Ranveer Singh will be stepping in the shoes of Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev. Whereas Deepika Padukone will essay the role of his wife Romi. The director of the film Kabir Khan has opened up on selecting Deepika in the biopic film.
In an interview with a leading news portal, Kabir Khan mentioned all the points about why he cast the actress for the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi. The director said that he did not have Mrs. Kapil Dev on his mind as a character while writing the story of the film 83. Later, when he met Romi, he realised that Kapil is sketchy without her.
Kabir Khan also said that Romi has an energy that makes Kapil Dev fulfilled. Speaking more about it, he said that he was sure that they could not give Romi’s character much time on screen as the story has to spin around cricket. Calling Deepika a superstar and the finest actress, Kabir Khan said that he got the vibrancy from her that he saw in Romi that echoes on Kapil Dev.

As the conversation went ahead, Kabir Khan said that Deepika has the energy that was required for Romi’s character to build in the film 83. It was a happy moment for him when Deepika Padukone questioned the director if there is anything that she can contribute to the film. When they narrated the story that revolves around the cricket life of the boys, she was all set to fit herself in the shoes of Romi.
When the trailer of the film was released, we could see the make over done by Deepika to look just like Romi. It seems like the actress has worked hard to give the character a finishing mark. The entire magic spread by the talented actress is yet to be seen in the film that is slated to release worldwide in theatres on December 24, 2021.
