Nikhil Dwivedi’s Next Project Based On Indo-Pak War Of 1971

As Indians were celebrating the 72nd Republic Day on January 26, producer Nikhil Dwivedi announced his next project, which will be based on Indo Pak war of 1971. Interestingly, the 1971 Indo-Pak war has been the backdrop of a handful of Bollywood films in the past but Nikhil promises that his upcoming project will have a completely fresh take on the same. The upcoming film will revolve around the Liberation of Dacca.

Interestingly, talking about the project, the Veere Di Wedding producer believes that India has never seen a real war film. His team has the plan to show the event as is, right from a historian’s textbook to celluloid. Nikhil will attempt to make it as real and authentic as possible, without any jingoism. The producer also shared that the team wants to design it as per international standards.

As per a report, the upcoming war drama will focus on the dynamics between two very important and powerful Indian faces that are Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India and Sam Maneckshaw, who was the Chief of the Army Staff during the Indo-Pak war. Nikhil further added that casting for the film is already underway and an announcement on the same will be made once the actors are roped in for the main roles.

On the other hand, as mentioned above that there are a handful of movies, which have a similar background. For the unversed, Vicky Kaushal will be seen playing the titular character of Sam Maneckshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming directorial venture. On the death anniversary of Sam Maneckshaw, last year, Vicky paid tribute to him by saying, “Remembering one of India’s finest – Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. This journey is going to be very special!”.

Interestingly, the Uri: The Surgical Strike actor’s first look as Sam Maneckshaw was shared in 2019 on the occasion of his death anniversary. While expressing his gratitude, Vicky wrote, “I feel honoured, emotional and proud of getting a chance to unfold the journey of this fearless patriot, the swashbuckling general, the first Field Marshal of India – Sam Manekshaw”.
