Silence Reviews: Critics Tag Manoj Bajpayee As The ‘Star’ Of The Story, Praise Aban Bharucha Deohans’ Direction

In the times when OTT is populated with remakes and reboots, ZEE5’s Silence stands out as an original piece. Styled and layered as a whodunnit, the film became one of the year’s most-intriguing thrillers. Silence follows the story of ACP Avinash Verma and his team as they decode the mysterious death of a young woman. With an ensemble cast, clever script, and a lot of twists, the movie became an overall treat for the audience.

Talking about the elements of the thriller, the critic wrote, “Suspense is maintained right till the end” and the film was capable of being a “real humdinger”.

The reviewer further wrote, “The star of the film is, of course, Bajpayee.” Writing more about his character, the critic wrote Bajpayee is an officer who’s a fan of poems. He delivers lines like,  ‘har khamoshi mein zubaan nahin hoti’ and that’s where the film’s title comes from, the review concluded.

Scroll In “Surprises Till The End”

The screenplay of Silence is apt and intriguing, the critic of Scroll In wrote about the film. Furthermore, appreciating director Aban Deohans, the reviewer mentioned, “Screenplay (of Silence) withholds its aces, keeping its surprises till the very end.” The reviewer stated Manoj Bajpayee as the soul of this “twisty mystery”. The critic concluded appreciating Silence as a “perfectly serviceable thriller”.

Filmibeat “A Satisfactory Conclusion

Going a non-mundane way, the critic of Filmibeat highlighted some sweet moments from Silence that eventually become an interesting aspect of the story. He wrote about one such scene between ACP Avinash Verma and his mother and stated how the film beautifully establishes its protagonist. 

Appreciating Deohans’ writing the review mentioned, “Aban ticks off most of the boxes when it comes to holding your attention with her story.” The film stands strong on noteworthy performances and a “satisfactory” conclusion, the review concluded.

ABP Live “Story Tied To Manoj Bajpayee’s Performance”

The critic of ABP Live pinned upon the conceptual theme of Silence that sets it apart from the contemporary thrillers. The review cited upon an interesting highlight that Silence washes off the typical principles of a whodunnit. “Lust, wealth, and corporate rivalry are the motives that are cleared away from the beginning itself,” the critic added. 

Further appreciating Manoj Bajpayee’s performance, the review tead, “Silence … is a story completely tied to Manoj Bajpayee’s performance.” The review concluded by stating Silence as a “worth-watching” experience.

Rediff “Realistic Thriller”

Rediff pointed out Silence as a “song-less” thriller and appreciated Deohans’ narrative that restricts the masala element. The critic wrote, “The narrative by Deohans is no-nonsense sans any quintessential masala.” Though it extends more than a usual thriller, you won’t want to disengage from the screens, the review added. Hailing it as a “realistic thriller” the critic stated the film as an enjoyable experience.
