A good deed never goes unnoticed, nor do samaritans allow one to fall midway through.
This is the message that Kollywood star Vishal has given to the 1800-odd students who benefitted from Sandalwood Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar’s generosity. Puneeth Rajkumar’s untimely and shocking demise on October 29 left a big question mark on who would continue the long list of philanthropic works that the actor had initiated in his lifetime.
Providing the answer to this was Tamil actor Vishal. At a promotional event for his next film ‘Enemy’, the actor said he will bankroll the free education that these 1800-odd students were getting courtesy of ‘Appu’, as Puneeth Rajkumar was endearingly called by his legion of fans.
Terming Puneeth Rajkumar as a down-to-earth human being, Vishal said apart from being a good actor, Puneeth was also a good friend of his. Vishal promised that he will take care of the 1800 students whom Puneeth Rajkumar funded from next year, to settle the question mark over his various social activities.
A bit wary about the promotional event in the backdrop of the shockwaves that Puneeth Rajkumar’s death spread across the film industries, the makers of Enemy finally did go ahead in holding it. Vishal, one among the many industry fraternities to mourn the death of Puneeth Rajkumar, made the promotion event special with his magnanimous gesture.
Puneeth Rajkumar, son of thespian Dr Rajkumar, 46 succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest. Known for his large-heartedness in promoting and funding social causes, Puneeth took care of Kannada medium schools by donating an amount to take care of the fees of students studying there. He also funded 46 orphanages, 19 cow shelters and 16 homes for the aged.
Puneeth Rajkumar followed in the footsteps of his parents – Rajkumar and Parvathamma Rajkumar in donating his eyes. The final rites of Puneeth Rajkumar were held on October 31 with dignitaries from the political and film world and his close family and friends in attendance at Kanteerava Studio. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai personally oversaw all the arrangements in consultation with Puneeth’s family.
