Actress Kangana Ranaut Withdraws Demolition Suit Against BMC

Actor Kangana Ranaut has withdrawn her case against Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The actress filed a suit against BMC over a demolition notice in connection to the illegal construction of her residence in 2018. Ranaut has withdrawn her case unconditionally.
According to a statement by Kangana Ranaut’s advocate Birendra Saraf, the suit would be withdrawn in four days. Further, the actress will apply for regularisation of the structure within the duration of four weeks. In accordance with the court order, the BMC shall respond to the application immediately.
If the BMC order is against Kangana Ranaut, she will get 2 weeks’ time to approach the court again. While Saraf requested two week’s time for the same, BMC opposed saying that no such relief can be granted.

In Kangana’s case, Saraf made an argument that the illegal construction is not on the developer’s behalf, BMC objected to the statement. During the proceeding, Justice Prithviraj Chavan asked Saraf if the withdrawal was unconditional or not. Saraf said that it was unconditional and thus dropped his request.

In 2018, the BMC had issued notice to Kangana Ranaut for illegal construction in her apartment. The actress has 3 apartments in a building situated at Khar West, Mumbai. She had merged the apartments and constructed more than the permissible limit.
