Bollywood Actor Asif Basra Dies At The Age Of 53 In Himachal Pradesh

On November 12, Bollywood actor Asif Basra, who featured in supporting roles in films such as Jab We Met and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, allegedly died by suicide in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

In a piece of shocking news, Bollywood actor Asif Basra has allegedly committed suicide. The reports say Basra was found hanging on Thursday in McLeodganj in Dharamshala, near a cafe located on FC Gibada Road. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, and no suicide note has been recovered, as of now. Meanwhile, The cause of the suicide is yet to be ascertained. Basra was 53.

Reports say that actor Asif Basra had been living in a rented house in McLeodganj for the last 5 years. He also had a foreign female friend living with him. “Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala. A forensic team is at the spot and police is investigating the matter,” SSP Kangra, Vimukt Ranjan was quoted as saying by ANI. On the other hand, as per the police, before the alleged suicide, Asif had returned from a stroll in the locality with his dog.

Numerous celebrities, who shared the screen space with the late actor, took to their social media handle and paid last respect. Actor Manoj Bajpayee tweeted, “What? This is too shocking!! Shot with him just before Lockdown!!! Oh My God!!!”. Popular digital face Maanvi Gagroo wrote, “This is terrible news. RIP Asif. Thank you for all your encouraging words every time we bumped into each other”, on Twitter along with a pair of praying hand emoticons. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta also expressed his grief and wrote, “Asif Basra! Can’t be true… This is just very, very sad”, on the micro-blogging site. Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui also extended their condolence for Basra’s family via Instagram post stories.

In his over two-decade career, he worked in various critically acclaimed and commercially hit films such as  Jab We Met, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Black Friday, Kai Po Che, Krrish 3, and Ek Villain, among many others.

The year 2020 was quite shocking for the Hindi film industry as it saw the demise of several legendary and critically acclaimed actors and personalities. Faraaz Khan, Sameer Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Saroj Khan, Jagdeep, Sushant Singh Rajput, Wajid Khan and Sejal Sharma, among many others, are a few to name.
