Bollywood Drug Nexus: Firoz Nadiadwala, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone & Others Under NCB’s Radar

After the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Narcotics Control Bureau has issued summon and raided the house of several prominent Bollywood stars. From actors to producers, many well-known faces have now been attached to the Bollywood drug nexus. The NCB on Sunday, November 8, raided the house of Hera Pheri producer Firoz Nadiadwala and here’s how the producer’s house became NCB’s target:

Reportedly, during the investigation of SSR’s drug probe angle, the Narcotics department arrested five drug peddlers from the Mumbai area, which led them to a drug connection with Firoz Nadiadwala. On Sunday, when the drug-controlling department raided their house, the wife of the producer was arrested after the alleged procurement of marijuana from their residence.  The NCB summoned Firoz in connection with the arrest of his wife for possession of marijuana which put the spotlight on a drug-supply syndicate in Bollywood.

“We conducted a major strike in Western Mumbai and Navi Mumbai where we recovered ganja in commercial quantity, Mephedrone and other different drugs. We also intercepted five peddlers and based on that we conducted and recovered some drugs today morning from his house which was supposed to be part of the same seizure,” NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede said.

After Firoz, even actor Arjun Rampal’s house was raided on Monday. Although, nothing much about the case has been disclosed, previously, the NCB had arrested Arjun’s girlfriend’s brother for allegedly having a drug connection with SSR’s case. Agisilaos Demetriades allegedly was in constant contact with several drug peddlers who provided drugs to Showik and Rhea Chakraborty. Although NCB raided Rhea’s house, nothing was found but after her medical test, the actor and her brother were arrested. Although Rhea is out on bail, brother Showik yet continues to be in police custody.

Many Bollywood stars like Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh had been summoned by the NCB. Actor Akshay Kumar, took to Twitter to say, “I’ll be a liar if I say that this problem does not exist in our industry. It exists, just like every industry. But every person in every profession is not involved in such problems. This is impossible.” The entire industry is left divided as some have come forward to defend it, while others have publicly opened up about the drug angle.
