Indira Gandhi, the ex-Prime Minister of our country was also assassinated. The Indian National Congress member was the daughter ex-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. She was assassinated on October 31, 1984 by her bodyguards outside her house.

4. Lalit Maken

Lalit Maken was also a leader from the Indian National Congress. He was also a leader of the labour union. Lalit Maken was gunned down by three assailants outside his house in Delhi. The incident took place when Lalit, his wife Gayatri were walking towards their car. While Lalit Maken died on spot, his wife was still alive but soon died on the way to the hospital.

5. Rajiv Gandhi

6. Abdul Ghani Lone

Abdul Ghani Lone was a Kashmiri politician and lawyer. He murdered on May 21, 2002. According to several eyewitnesses, the Kashmiri politician was killed by two men from a group of youth shouting pro-Pakistani slogans in Idgah.

7. Phoolan Devi

Phoolan Devi was popularly known as the Bandit Queen. She was a famous female activist who made headlines as the only female member in a gang of bandits. She was shot dead outside her bungalow in Delhi by her formal rival bandits.

8. Pramod Mahajan

Pramod Mahajan was a notable BJP leader. Although he did not belong to any political family, he was an influential leader in his home state. In 2006, his brother Pravin Mahajan shot him due to a family dispute. Pramod Mahajan succumbed to his injuries 13 days later and his brother faced life imprisonment for this crime.

9. T.P. Chandrasekharan

T.P. Chandrasekharan was the founder of the RMP. He soon formed a breakaway party, the Communist Party of India. He was hacked to death by four assailants in 2012. His death made national headlines and made him famous posthumously.

Dilip Sarkar was an Indian politician from West Bengal. He was the MLA Barabani. Unfortunately, on June 9 2013, he was shot dead. At the time of his death, he was 64 years old.
