Wonder Woman Gal Gadot is not just a superwoman on the big screens but also in her real life. The strong and opinioned megastar knows well how to take a stand for herself if misbehaved. For a recent cover story of Elle magazine’s 2021 Women in Hollywood issue, Gal Gadot opened up about various incidents from her personal life when she was ‘threatened’ by people from her own industry. The incident took place back in 2017, on the sets of the DC movie Justice League, and Gal Gadot “handled it on the spot”.
After Zack Snyder, the original director of Justice League, stepped down from his post, Joss Whedon replaced him as the new filmmaker. Gal Gadot put Joss Whedon into the spotlight for threatening her career during the shoot of the movie in 2017. As she stated in the cover story of the magazine, having a strong sense of justice, Gal Gadot did take care of it and stood strong against the misbehavior but was also shaken to the core and couldn’t believe what was just said to her. She also states that, at the time, aside from her being upfront against the harassment, the heads of the Warner Brothers also took care of it.

During the interview, Gal Gadot mentions that she isn’t quite sure that Joss Whedon’s attitude would have been different to her had she been a man and not a woman working in the cinema industry. Another witness from the same sets of Justice League opened about the incident. He mentioned that Joss Whedon bragged about setting it straight with Gal Gadot and that since he is the writer of the film, he could make Wonder Woman’s character look extremely stupid.
Gal Gadot is not the only celebrity to report such an incident against Joss Whedon. Her Justice League’s co-star Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg’s character in the movie, allegedly tweeted against Joss Whedon that his behavior with the cast and crew on the sets of Justice League was “abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable”.
Actress Charisma Carpenter, who was directed by Joss Whedon in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Angel’ also called him out to be inappropriate on the sets with her while she was pregnant during the shoot. She later suffered from Braxton Hicks Contractions due to the abusive work environment.
