Jaago: Here’s what makes Sivakarthikeyan AKA Gyanu one of the most realistic protagonists ever

Bhavna Gandikota . Apr 23, 2021 .

Jaago’s Gyanu is one of the most relatable protagonists of all time, and here’s why we think so!

Jaago starring NayantharaSivakarthikeyan, and Fahadh Faasil is an entertainer that you can catch with your family. Keeping the tone of an entertaining blockbuster, the movie has everything that will make you want to whistle. However, despite all this, Sivakarthikeyan as Gyanu is one of the most realistic heroes that one could ask for. He doesn’t jump into an action sequence as soon as he sees the villain and has limitations like all of us,

Imagine a hero from a mainstream movie who wants to start something in his locality. He would get into it without thinking of the local goons and bash them up if they posed a problem. Gyanu, on the other hand, seeks Kasi’s permission to start a community radio station because he knows that he can’t do anything without his permission. He might hate Kasi, but he also knows that he is no superhuman to bash him up. Gyanu’s fear, in this case, makes him very relatable.

Another factor that makes him relatable is his relationship with his parents. His mother doesn’t like the idea of the community radio, but there is no drastic reaction from her side when he starts it. He asks her to switch the radio on for the first time, and she blesses him as any other mother would. The scene is not blown out of proportion by any of them, even when there was scope to do so.

His biggest conflict in the movie is with Fahadh Faasil as Adhi, but they are never physically fighting with each other. Just like our fights in life, it is all done using brains and not brawn. There is politics involved in their fights with each other, and it makes more sense because this is what we see around us.
