Pankaj Tripathi Bags Lead Role In The Akshay Kumar Starrer Oh My God 2

Actor Pankaj Tripathi has come a long way in Bollywood through his fabulous performances. Many filmmakers and actors have expressed their desire to work with Tripathi. And why not? The actor has charmed everyone with his elegant craft of performing and thus every big director wants to sign him for their projects. Saying so, Tripathi has now been roped in for the sequel of the 2012 film Oh My God. Yes! You heard it right. The actor will be replacing Paresh Rawal in this second installment.

The first installment, ‘Oh My God’ was helmed by director Umesh Shukla and featured Paresh Rawal in the lead while Akshay Kumar portrayed the role of Lord Krishna. According to the reports, Rawal will not be a part of OMG 2. Replacing him is Pankaj Tripathi who will star alongside Akshay. While nothing about his role is revealed as of now, it seems that Akshay will be reviving his role from the first part.

“Oh My God 2 will feature Pankaj Tripathi as the lead character alongside Akshay Kumar, who gets back to play his role from the first part,” a source close to the film revealed. Also, he confirmed that the makers have approached Pankaj and everything is “locked” as of now.

The sequel of Oh My God has been in the talks for a while now. Earlier, the makers had planned to begin the shoot from Summer 2021. However, the shoot was postponed due to the Covid-19 lockdown. And as per the recent reports, the film will go on floors by September. Now, the production work has begun in full pace with the team hunting for locations and sets around the city. The makers have planned to wrap up the shoot by the end of October 2021.

Oh My God 2 will mark the second collaboration of Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar. The actors worked together on Farhad Samji’s Bachchan Pandey which is set to release next year. On the work front, Tripathi was last seen in Satish Kaushik’s directorial Kaagaz.
