Rihanna and Nicki Minaj were set to soar the trending hashtags with Minaj’s latest Instagram and Twitter post. In the pictures and a short video clip, they seemingly got together along with ASAP Rocky and Kenneth Petty – plus Minaj and Petty’s baby. However, the occasion of this little gathering wasn’t mentioned.
Fans are reacting with comments that suggest that minds were being blown as Minaj and Rihanna posted a picture together after nearly seven years! Some even scream-wrote the words “ROYALTY!” and the portmanteau “RIHNIKA!!”. A lot of energy and vigour could be seen in the comments section on both Instagram and Twitter. The reunion post of the Caribbean girls was captioned “Love her downnnnnn” followed by the hashtag #NewYorkShit. And in a short video clip of Rihanna and Minaj on Twitter, Rihanna joined in by saying “Caribbean things, you know what I’m saying?”
Minaj wore her signature diamond necklace with the words “Chun-Li” which is the title of one of her songs released in 2018. Rihanna on the other hand had decked herself up in a long gold necklace and an all-black outfit. Minaj was seen with a change of dresses in the two pictures. One was an all-black leather outfit that adorned not only Minaj herself but also the relationship between the two gal pals!
The Twitterati has since been going crazy and some even anticipated a new upcoming album of the duo together, perhaps “Fly 2.0”?! Others especially loved seeing the baby seated between the two superstars.
The duo last worked together in the song “Fly” back in 2010. “Fly” is a song by Nicki Minaj from her debut studio album, Pink Friday (2010). The song was released as the eighth and final single from the album on August 30, 2011. Barbadian recording artist Rihanna added guest vocals to the song. The track was written by Kevin Hissink, Will Jordan, J.R. Rotem, Clemm Rishad, and Minaj herself, and produced by Rotem and Hissink. The song is an R&B track within the hip hop genre. The song, as the title suggests, speaks of the emotion of soaring above and beyond all stereotypes and negativity, to emerge victoriously.
