Bollywood is all about glitz and glam, but there are some dark sides to it that go overlooked most of the time. People become so engrossed in their stardom that they overlook on the industry’s ills. However, owing to a few actresses who spoke out against it, a revolution erupted, and now many actresses and members of the fraternity are raising their voices against the wrongdoings in the entertainment industry.
Surveen Chawla has confessed that she has had to deal with the South Indian film industry’s casting couch ‘a lot.’ Surveen talked out about getting body-shamed since her maiden movie meets in Mumbai in a recent interview. She was informed that because she weighed 56 kilograms, she would not be cast.
She was questioned if she had to deal with comments about her weight and was warned she wouldn’t receive parts in an interview. Surveen’s response was ‘Yes’. She described that it was her first time attending a film meeting in Bombay. She was working on tv before going to this first meeting. It’s their duty to get you to the point where you’ve been questioning yourself.
And this is something that most women face, wherein their looks are questioned, their size is contested, their waist size is queried, and their chest size is called into question.”She went on to say, “It’s completely insane. What are the requirements to be here? What exactly are they? It was an era when it, together with all the casting couch that came together with it, and a lot of people in the south film business and was a terrible period. It was there, but she doesn’t feel those are the correct limits for defining someone or causing someone to think or believe in where you’d like to be or where you are.”

Surveen Chawla made her television debut in Kahin To Hoga (2003), followed by Kasautii Zindagii Kay (2004) and Kaajjal (2006). She presented Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars and starred in the reality dancing program Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2008). Surveen has also appeared in a number of films.
