Vicky Kaushal has always been a part of projects that have always made it big in the box office. However, the actor is also called a typecast frequently. The actor opened about being a typecast and also shares his thought process in nodding a yes to any project.
Vicky said that the first box to tick is that does the story affect Vicky on a personal level? He will never hear or read the film as the actor Vicky Kaushal but as an audience. If it moves the actor as an audience then that’s the first step. Then there are other factors like who is the filmmaker, are there shades in the character he can explore, will he get an opportunity to grow as an actor, etc. All these factors affect Vicky’s choice a lot. But without any calculation or mathematics, it has to just hit home in a holistic way. Nothing beyond that
Opening about his choice of projects and answering the question of being a typecast Vicky denies being a typecast and says that there is no complicated process behind taking something up. Sometimes he has to feel more excited than the director to be part of the film, only then will he be able to give his all to the film. And if he is not honest, it will be expressed through my performance. The actor can’t be dishonest there.

This has clearly answered the questions of being a typecast and also commented on his choice of projects which do resonate with the films he has done in his wor graph like URI – The Surgical Strike which was a turning point in his career followed by Bhoot: Part One, Raazi sharing the screen space with Alia Bhatt and a lot more to follow. Vicky Kaushal will be seen next in The Immortal Ashwatthama and Takht. An update of these two films is awaited eagerly.
