When the 2020 film Yaara was released, director Tigmanshu Dhulia not only gave us an exceptional “Gang Story” but also treated us with a new on-screen pair. Yes! Fans were drooling over Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan’s chemistry in the film as Phagun and Sukanya. While audiences were eagerly waiting for another Vidyut-Shruti starrer, ZEE5’s latest release The Power portrayed a new shade of romance between the duo. And hence, comparisons between these two films considering Vidyut and Shruti’s chemistry is unavoidable.
Though Yaara and The Power are different in every aspect, be it the story setting, character traits, and the plot, the characters played by both these actors will definitely treat you with exact opposite shades of love. While Yaara emphasizes a socio-political theme, the newly released The Power is a revenge saga focusing on personal relationships and betrayals. However, the contrasting love between the leads proved to be a treat for the viewers, here’s why.
Phagun – Sukanya: An Innocent-Yet-Realistic Bond
Four friends and their right to fight is at the heart of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaara. However, after a series of events, the buddies find themselves on the wrong side of the law. However, Sukanya’s entry changes Phagun’s life forever, making him fight against the wrong. The understanding Phagun and Sukanya share amid the problematic scenarios of the Naxal movement, makes their love story an inspiring one.
The duo tackles each and every problem coming their way together. Being the underdogs, Phagun and his friends rise against the wrong, and Sukanya’s support plays an important role. In Yaara, the romance and chemistry between Vidyut and Shruti are innocent yet realistic.
Devidas – Parveen: The Budding Romance
Devidas and Parveen’s love story will make you recall the romance of classic Hindi cinema flicks. In The Power, he belongs to the family of Thakurs and Parveen is the daughter of a loyal assistant of the Thakurs. Despite all the differences between them, Devidas and Pari fall in love with each other. Their romance is sweet and it won’t make you realize the haunting future their relationship holds.
Phagun – Sukanya: A “Well-Settled” Goal
After suffering from their short-comings and getting over the world of crime, Phagun and Sukanya begin a new chapter in their lives. With a well-settled goal, Phagun turns a businessman while Suknaya backs him at every stage of his life. Going against all the odds, the couple’s romance blossoms into a forever-together bond.
Devidas – Parveen: Love Morphs Into Revenge
After a series of tragic events i.e the fall of the Thakur clan, the equations between all the character change, the smooth and sugar-coated plotline takes a massive turn after the assassination attempt on Kalidas Thakur. While Devi is driven by the angst of losing his father and seeks revenge, Pari falls under the trap of the rivals of Thakurs and becomes blood-thirsty too. Within no time the love morphs into a war which eventually ends on a tragic note. The way Vidyut and Shruti change the layer of their characters is a treat for the viewers.
Throughout both these films, Vidyut and Shruti’s contrasting chemistry on-screen and their “together-forever” bond of romance becomes the soul of these exciting dramas.
