Jay-Z has been the highest nominated amongst artists for his top chartbusters in history, but it comes as a surprise that neither Jay nor his wife has been nominated for the prestigious 64th Grammy Awards in 2022.

The Recording Academy has announced the nominations for each of the 86 categories for the 2022 Grammy’s Award, officially known as the 64th GRAMMY Awards, and Jay-Z has become Grammy’s most-nominated artist in history.

Jay, is turning 52 in the coming month, and in 18 out of the 22 Grammy years, he has been continuously been nominated so far. Jay had released an album in 2017, but now his release schedule has slowed considerably over the past decade.  He had earlier been tied with legendary producer and composer Quincy Jones at 80 and is now nominated for guest appearances with Rapper Kayne West and the late DMX.

Jay has a total of 23 wins at the moment. His wife, Beyonce, and Paul McCartney had been tied for second place, but it was Beyonce who gained two nods in the rock category and this marked Jones and herself to be the only ones to be at Number 2 spot with 81.

Jay had made his Grammy Bow in the year 1999 with three nods, one for his tag team with Jermaine Dupri’s ‘Money Ain’t a Thang’, and two from his classic Vol.2 ‘Hard Rock Life’ Album. He did win, but boycotted the event by not attending the awards, citing reasons that New Yorker DMX had been missed out in the nominations despite having released Two No.1 Albums in one year.

Jay’s biggest Grammy winning years were from 2009, 2010, and 2012, where he received 3 awards, but we guess he was disappointed in the year 2017 when he did not win any trophies, though his nominations were the highest. That was when his ‘4:44’ album and many related singles and videos received a total of eight nods.

His complicated relationship with the Grammys did not improve due to him not receiving trophies for his 2017 feat, and Jay expressed his opinion in a crystal clear manner in ‘Apesh**’, which was released the next year with Beyonce’s ‘Everything Is Love’, which therefore became a duet album, from the famous singers.

The truth is that neither Jones nor Beyonce have been nominated for the 2022 Awards, though Q had written the liner notes for Jon Bastiste’s ‘We Are’ album, who is a top nominee.

Stevie Wonder is next in line after Beyonce and Jones, and so is late classical Hungarian- British conductor Georg Solti, who had tied with 74. Music maestros Henry Mancini and John Williams, have both tied with 72, but even they have not been nominated for the 2022 Grammys Awards Show.

It was McCartney’s 18 wins which came in 1964, which was the first of its kind, which was a dual win as being a part and member of The Beatles, who won for the Best New Artist as well as one for the song ‘A Hard Day’s Night.’

The Recording Academy will present the 2022 GRAMMY Awards show on Mon, 31 Jan 2022, so get geared for the grand show.
