April 22nd is observed as World Earth Day, and this is the time to stop and think about the welfare of our environment. First held on April 22, 1970, the aim of the day was to encourage people to demonstrate support for environmental protection and act responsibly. Now, after 50 years of its commencement, the day is more valued than ever as the need for environmental protection has reached sky-high. Drawing concern towards the issues nature is facing, the day marks a great start for many new habits. On this World Earth Day, we bring you some of your favourite celebrities you can take inspiration from to do some good deed for a greener tomorrow.

Vivekh
Late actor Vivekh stood as one of the biggest environmentalists in Kollywood till his last breath. Having become a self-proclaimed ambassador of the green revolution, Vivekh promised himself to plant as many trees as he can. The Padmashree awardee planted about 33.23 lacs plantings, with a target of 1 crore trees before he passed away. The actor was a prominent presence at almost all go green drives across the state where he could be seen distributing plant saplings.

Vijay
From being the Brand Ambassador of the World Environment Day to asking his fans to not missing out on any challenges to planting trees, Vijay has always been pro green revolution. Vijay rarely uses social media, but when he does, he makes sure it is put to good use. The Mersal actor who stands away from all online challenges happily takes up challenges like planting trees or saying “no to crackers” which stands for a good cause, proving that he is always up for a good initiative.

Ajith Kumar
Actor Ajith Kumar is a star on and off-screen. From being a racecar driver to being a charitable figure, he has always been on the good side. However, not many know that the actor is also an environmentalist. Ajith is known for keeping a low profile in real life. The actor knows how to put his large fan following to use as he often asked the members to plant saplings across the state and help in segregating garbage. Ajith, who can often be seen asking his fans to stop using crackers for celebrations, at point proposed planting at least 1 lakh saplings annually and requested his fans’ help.
R Madhavan
A few months ago, as the world was slowly recovering from the Coronavirus induced lockdown, actor Madhavan decided to embark on a new venture by buying large plots of land. The actor embarked upon a new eco-friendly project as he tried to rejuvenate these exhausted and barren pieces of land he found. The award-winning actor promised to restore the land in the most sustainable way possible and told his fans that he wished to watch the natural habitats of these lands return. Madhavan’s action is a huge motivation for anyone who wishes to take up such sustainable projects to save nature.
