Karva Chauth is a festival celebrated by married Hindu women. On Karva Chauth, the married women maintain a fast for the good health and long life of their husbands. It is usually celebrated four days after Purnima or full moon in the month of Kartika. This year Karva Chauth will be celebrated on 4 November 2020.   1. Pyaaz Paratha Recipe by Sanjeev Kapoor

This recipe is not only simple to make but is packed with nutrition. Since you are fasting, it won’t take much time to prepare the parathas as you can knead the dough in advance. For this recipe, you will need 1 cup bajra flour, 1/2 cup jowar flour, 1/2 cup besan and 1/4 cup rice flour. For the spices, you will need 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, a pinch of asafetida, 1 tsp red chilli powder and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Rest of ingredients include onions finely chopped, some wheat flour, chopped coriander leaves and some oil. Mix all the flour and spices together and then add the chopped onions and coriander leaves. Add water and knead well. Since its difficult to roll the dough add some water or oil to your hands and roll the dough. Use butter or ghee to fry the parathas.

For all rice lovers, we’ve got you covered with this super delicious and filling recipe. First, heat your wok well on high heat. Then add some oil. Once the oil is hot enough add the vegetables that include french beans, carrots, red Chinese cabbage, cabbage finely chopped and iceberg. Toss the vegetables well and make sure they’re finely chopped. Later, add some chopped garlic. Once the vegetables are cooked add some soya sauce and chilli sauce. Add a pinch of sugar to balance the taste of the fried rice. Once everything is mixed well add the boiled rice and mix well. You can devour this delicious meal after praying for the long life of your husband.

3. Chicken Popcorn Recipe

If you want to break your fast on a lighter note, then this chicken starter recipe is your go-to recipe. For this, you will have to prep and prepare the chicken breast in advance. To the chicken breast add some chilli flakes, cardamom powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, some lime juice and some cooking oil. Add ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Leave the chicken to marinate. For the coating, you will need some cornflour, black pepper powder and some eggs. Once the chicken is well-marinated, dip it in the whisked egg and then coat it with cornflour. Deep fry the chicken on medium heat. You can break your fast with this light but savoury chicken popcorn.

Another snack to devour once you break your fast is this quick and simple twist on Sevpuri. For this recipe, you will need some canapes. Add some oil to the pan and mix in chopped onions, corn, chopped red chillies and some sweet chilli sauce. Later, add some chaat masala powder and a handful of coriander leaves to the mixture. Once its ready, deep fry the canapes and fill it with the prepared mixture. You can top it off with some sev.

5. Grilled Fruits Recipe by Pankaj Bhadouria

If you have a sweet tooth, look no further, this recipe will blow your mind away. A perfect way to end your fast is with a dash of sweet and charred fruits. Cut the required fruits in big chunks and set aside. For the dressing, add some honey and lime juice and mix well. You can also add some chilli flakes. Once the dressing is ready add the fruits to it and grill well. The perfect end to your Karva Chauth fast.
