On receiving this honorable award in 2020, Ekta Kapoor had expressed via a note that, I’m overwhelmed and elated. My journey into the profession began when I was only 17 years old. I was frequently told that I was quite young and amateur and that making things happen was all too soon. But I’ve learned over the years that it’s never too early to pursue your aspirations, and that being too young is generally the finest thing. I’m pleased today as I got the fourth highest civilian accolade, ‘Padma Shri.

Karan Johar, too, was overjoyed at the accomplishment. The news came to the filmmaker while he was on a recon mission for his directorial debut Takht, he claimed in an interview that I normally don’t answer calls from unfamiliar numbers, but I’m glad I did this time. It was a message from the Ministry of India. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. I attempted to thank them, but I became numb once the phone ended. I was there alone while the news came through. Despite the poor network, I rang my mum. When I told her I’d received the Padma Shri, she sobbed in tears of joy.
