Aparajita Apu stars Susmita Dey as Apu and Rohaan Bhattacharjee as Dipu in lead roles. Dipu’s mother, Abola Mukherjee is a very uptight and strict elderly of the family. She often gets influenced by her evil, wicked sister Juthika in her decision-making process. While Abola could even come off as heartless at times, Dipu’s father is the exact opposite of this. Similar to Dipu, he brings immense kindness, affection, rationality and understanding to the table, which is essential for the Mukherjee family.
Watch what will happen next on Aparajita Apu here:
Dipu’s mother appears to be a very tough member of the Mukherjee family. She keeps the entire household running under her strict orders at all times. Often, she has also been very harsh with her words to everyone around her.
However, Dipu, her youngest son, is the complete opposite of it and we know who he has gotten his traits from – his father, Mr. Mukherjee. Dipu’s father seems to have a very closely resembling personality to that of Dipu. He always stands his ground against Abola’s wrongful decisions and ensures she takes the right path, instead of the wrong one under Juthika’s influence. Mr. Mukherjee also never shies away from pointing out Juthika’s wrongs and shuts her down as much as possible.
Especially when it comes to Supu, Mr. Mukherjee is really that father-in-law who is more like a father to her. From protecting her dignity to her rights as a daughter-in-law of the Mukherjee family, he does it all.

While Dipu does receive a lot of love from his mother, it is not in the most selfless form. However, Mr. Mukherjee loves Dipu unconditionally, which shows in all their interactions as well. If he sees hurt in Dipu’s eyes, he is immediately concerned about it and wishes to help him however possible. Back when he saw Dipu not feeling the best, his paternal instinct proved to be very accurate. No matter how much Dipu hides his feelings, his father catches on to it all very quickly and very well.

From being honest, upfront, and even confrontational about a shameless Juthika’s cruel intentions to constantly reminding Abola and the rest of the family about being respectful towards Apu and her family, Mr. Mukherjee does it all. In a family of some of the meanest people to ever exist, he truly adds the softness required to balance it all out.
