Afghanistan is on the verge of a big change, with the Taliban overthrowing the government and taking control over the country. Many Afghans have been trying to run flee the country and take refuge in other nations. Several renowned people, including Bollywood stars, also spoke about Afghanistan‘s situation and raised their voices in support of innocent citizens. But did you that a few of these stars are actually of Afghan origin?
Salman Khan
Bollywood’s beloved Bhaijaan, Salman Khan belongs to an Afghan heritage. His ancestors were Alakozai Pashtun which is a part of the Yusufzai tribe. In the 18th century, his ancestors migrated to Indore and settled there. In fact, this has also been mentioned in Salman Khan’s biography titled, Being Salman.
Feroz Khan
Renowned actor Feroz Khan was also of Afghan origin. He was born to Sadiq Ali Khan who was an Afghan Pashtun Tanoli from Ghazni, Afghanistan, and Fatima, who had Persian ancestry from Iran. He was so close to his Afghan heritage that the actor also shot for his films Dharmatma and Janasheen in his motherland.

Fardeen Khan
Feroz Khan’s son Fardeen Khan also belongs from the same heritage. Although his career has been on the rocks lately, it’s been rumoured that the actor might make a comeback with No entry 2. Fardeen also visited Afghanistan with his father for the film Janasheen.
Sanjay Khan
Feroz Khan’s younger brother Sanjay Khan was also a renowned actor from the ’60s and ’70s. In fact, he was born with the name Shah Abbas Khan which he changed before entering Bollywood. He’s also the father of Main Hoon Na actor Zayed Khan and Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife, Sussanne Khan.
Kader Khan
Late actor Kader Khan was born in Afghanistan’s Kabul. His father, Abdul Rahman Khan, was from Kandahar, Afghanistan while his mother, Iqbal Begum, belonged to Balochistan, Pakistan. Kader Khan is a Pashtun of the Kakar tribe. He was raised in the Kamathipura neighbourhood in Mumbai after his family migrated from Kabul.

Warina Hussain
Actress Warina Hussain who made her Bollywood debut from the film Loveyatri is also of Afghan origin. She was also born in Kabul and is now making her career in Bollywood. She started with Modelling and has now ventured into acting as well. Warina often visits her homeland and recently also met with Afghanistan’s first woman Consul General, Zakia Wardak.
Arshi Khan
Bigg Boss fame actress Arshi Khan also has roots in Afghanistan. Her family moved to India when she was only 4-year-old and settled in Bhopal. They’ve also received Indian citizenship now.
