When asked about how his character is different from the other ones so far, on this Abhishek said that ‘I have done multiple kinds of characters so far be it silent comedy or romantic comedy but this guy is a cross-fit champion. This character of Sandy Bhai only cares about himself. He is very courageous, strong, mighty, and is overconfident as well. This guy is a Crossfit champion who is fittest amongst all’.
He also adds, ‘My character in the film is very pompous and completely all about himself who also has a superiority complex as well as he feels that since he is superior, he is the best. But he bullies Ayushmann in the film who is known as Manu’.
When asked about how this film happened to him, on this he said, ‘One fine day I got a call from Mukesh Chhabra bhai who told me that this character is apt for you and this guy is a cross-fit champion, so do you have six-pack abs and on this, he told me to give an audition and I gave it.
Talking about his audition experience he said, ‘For the audition, I had to lift a gas cylinder and in those days I had a major accident because of which I got 16 stitches in my hands and only ten days back I had gotten my stitches removed so it was a huge task for me to lift it but I had to give it a shot and thinking that I gave the audition and this is how I came onboard for the film’.
When asked about his overall experience of shooting with Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the film, Abhishek asserted, ‘The best part about this film was that my producer, director alongside co-stars Ayushmann and Vaani all were Punjabi. We all gelled up well and had a lot of great time on the sets as we used to talk about food, workout and songs which was a good friendly environment on the sets’.
Opening up on his happiness as the film got received so well by audiences, Abhishek said, ‘I am so blessed and grateful to be a part of a great film which gives out a strong message about how love is unconditional and doesn’t see any gender and casteism and this is the need of the hour. People have watched it and loved it as well and now everyone can be more welcoming towards other people. I think what we did today should had been done before only and even now its not too late since now might be everyone would understand that these people are also like us only and its not their fault that God has giventhem some disability as love is always unconditional’.
When quipped about getting into the skin of her character, Abhishek shares, ‘For getting into the skin of the character I watched and went through many crossfit championships. I saw how their body launguage is. I took note of how they behave and my character being a Punjabi was added advantage as I have seen how such guys constantly look down on others and also I am a crossfit athlete myself so it was really helpful to me’.
