International Emmy Awards 2021: Vir Das Fails To Bring The Award Home; Comedian Says ‘It Was An Honour To Represent India’

The 49th International Emmy Awards were held in New York on Monday and honoured some of the best artists and shows from all across the world. India had scored three nominations, but unfortunately, none of the nominees ended up winning at the award function. Comedian Vir Das, who was present at the ceremony, was nominated in the Comedy section for his project that was released digitally.

Vir Das shared photos of the nominee medal and certificate and the salad that he savored at the awards ceremony. Taking to his Instagram account the comedian shared the photos. While sharing the photos he wrote that he was nominated for best comedy at the International Emmy Awards, for jokes. The show that won the award is a gigantic beautiful show he loves winning. Adding further he wrote that he got this medal, and ate this fantastic salad with a very interesting crispy cheese topping. It was an honour for the comedian to represent the country. Vir Das talked to a leading portal about the International Emmy Awards. When he was asked if he expected to be nominated, Vir Das denied it and said that he doesn’t expect to be served dinner on most nights. So he was very excited to be nominated for Indian comedy. Adding more to it he said that they did one show with one guy sitting in front of a blue door and then to get an Emmy nomination along with these other shows that have a $2-3 million budget. He also said that their door was Rs 10,000.

Apart from Vir Das, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sushmita Sen’s creations were also nominated at the International Emmy Awards 2021. Vir recently invaded himself in controversy when he posted a video on YouTube titled I come from two Indias. The video was from his recent performance at the John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC.
