Based on true life characters who made a mark in our progress and welfare, these TV serials bring to life their stories in a way that lets us appreciate and connect to them. Here are some of the best Bengali TV serials that are biopics. Enjoy!

1. Joy Baba Lokenath

Joy Baba Lokenath revolves around the life of Lokenath Brahmachari, also known as Baba Lokenath, a Hindu mystic and saint who lived in Bengal in the 18th and 19th century and worked tirelessly for the betterment of the society. The TV serial stars actors Bhaswar Chatterjee, Soumili Biswas, and Aranya Roychowdhury in the lead roles.

2. Rani Rashmoni

Rani Rashmoni is another great biopic TV serial about the titular protagonist, who was the Queen of Janbazar in 17th century Bengal. She was a major contributor to the cause for women’s empowerment, as well as the fight for equality by those who were discriminated for being of a lower caste. Rani Rashmoni (played by actor Ditipriya Roy) also fought bravely against the British oppressors during the struggle for India’s independence.

3. Kadambini

The latest Zee Bangla TV serial Kadambini is all about Dr Kadambini Ganguly, who was the first female doctor in Bengal! Actor Ushasi Ray plays the role of this titular protagonist, and brings to life the amazing historical character who paved the way forward for all women in the future who aspire to study medicine. Watch tales from Kadambini’s childhood and beyond unfold on screen in the show.

4. Netaji

Netaji is a Bengali TV serial based on the life and journey of Subhas Chandra Bose. This patriotic drama biopic tells the tale of a young Subhas who joined the freedom struggle and went on to become one of the greatest leaders of our country. It stars actors Abhishek Bose and Dhrubo Sarkar in the lead roles.
