Former Miss Universe and actress Lara Dutta is an established name in Bollywood. She made her film debut with Andaaz in 2003, which garnered her Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Recipient of several accolades, including a Filmfare Award, she has established her position in the leading ladies of the 2000s.
Lara Dutta has recently opened up about her current roles in her projects. According to her, now she is playing those roles she wanted to play for so long. She also agrees with the fact that the cohort of women between the ages of 35-55 was never addressed, and nothing was made of them. The actor revealed that her age liberated her, as she is in her 40s now. She feels happy that finally, she’s playing the age-appropriate role and playing the kind of characters she wanted to portray as an actor. Lara also mentioned that she never came into the industry to become a hero or a leading actress. She just wanted to become an actor, and she’s finally getting the roles written for her.
Talking about the earlier roles being given to the actresses in Bollywood, Lara spoke about playing long-sacrificing roles of mother or that pati-vrata patni. She said she was tired of playing such roles she was given in her 30s. The actor called herself ‘Sabbatical’ and her daughter, a blessing in disguise.
In terms of the work front, recently, Lara Dutta was praised by her fans and audience for her outstanding role as the former Prime Minister of India, Indra Gandhi in the digitally released film. Recalling her experience, she called herself ‘incredibly lucky’ as she got the opportunity for the same role.
