Adding more to Pippa, the story is based on Brigadier Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who, along with his siblings, fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon whereas it is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. While talking about the film directer Ronnie Screwvala said that he is happy that they’ve begun shooting for Pippa with Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta clapping the inaugural slate. Kicking off the schedule on such a positive note ensures a steady momentum throughout the course of the production. They’re raring to go with a brilliant ensemble cast and filmmaker Raja Krishna Menon, who has a savvy eye for war films.
Coming back Pippa, the movie is inspired by the book The Burning Chaffees which is also written by Brigadier Mehta himself. The title of the film has been derived from the war tank called the PT-76. The tank is popularly known as Pippa. The war drama film aims to show the heroic tank battle of Garibpur on screen, which eventually led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
