Rhea Chakraborty Gets Approval From NDPS Court To Defreeze Her Bank Accounts; Actress Sought Her Gadgets After Entire Year

Rhea Chakraborty is making headlines since last year after she was booked in the drugs case following actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in June. The actress was in a relationship with late actor Sushant and she was accused of assisting suicide, cheating, fraud in the late actor’s house and later even drug consumption. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) jumped into the brawl and they alleged that she was an active member of the drug syndicate. Rhea along with her brother Showik was arrested and had to spend around a month in jail before they were granted bail by the Bombay High Court.
A special court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act has ordered defreezing Rhea Chakraborty’s bank accounts. The bank accounts were frozen by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) last year. The court has also allowed a separate plea to reclaim her laptop and phone from the agency. In her plea, Rhea had said that she is an actor/model by profession and that NCB froze the bank accounts and FDs by Notice dated 16/09/2020 without reason, and it is causing serious injustice and prejudice to her.

Her application stated that the operation of a bank account is required for making the payment of salaries of her employees and for fulfilling various tax liabilities including GST payments, etc. The actress said that she supports her own lifestyle from the amount in the bank accounts. Her brother Showik is also dependent on her. She said that her bank accounts had been frozen for 10 months, and it was causing prejudice to her, so, they should be defreezed.

The court, while agreeing to her plea, also directed her to execute an indemnity bond of Rs. 10 lakh. In another plea, Rhea Chakraborty sought that her gadgets, a Macbook Pro Apple Laptop and Apple iPhone, be returned. Atul Sarpande said that the articles were seized and sent to the laboratory and now they have received the same from the laboratory. It is further submitted that the investigating officer has already informed the actress to collect her property.
