Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut spoke today during the Zero Hour of the Rajya Sabha and said that the Indian Government should reconsider its decision to privatize the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). Asserting that the economic situation of the country is serious, he said, “After demonetization, we are facing the menace of corona and the situation is such that our GDP, as well as our RBI, have gone bankrupt. In such times, the Government has put the railways, Air India and LIC on the market for sale.”
During his speech in the Rajya Sabha, he continued, “Now the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust has been added to this sale. The Government is thinking of privatizing the JNPT. The JNPT is the world’s 27th biggest port in the world, which provides the Indian Government with more than 30 percent of income. Handing such an important port to private hands will cause a big loss to the nation’s overall property.”
