conic actor Dilip Kumar, who amassed a massive fan base with his performances over a five-decade career, passed away in July of this year. The late actor was honoured recently at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Saira Banu recently expressed her feelings about him in a lengthy article, saying that he always motivated and stimulated her to follow her heart.
According to sources, leading publications reveal that Saira Banu stated in her article that Dilip Saheb was the one who empowered and urged her to follow her heart and create a fund to provide medical assistance and daily necessities to genuinely needy people with no earning capacity. WORCS (Welfare Organization for Care and Relief Services) is a charitable trust that assists over 50 low-income families.According to Saira Banu, Dilip Kumar was the first actor in Indian cinema to comprehend that a film was a product created by the collective contribution of various skills. The actor chose one film at a time because he believed that an actor’s contribution did not end with his work in front of the camera. Banu went on to say that he was convinced that an actor had a responsibility to ensure the product’s success in the uncertain film market.
Dilip Saheb was the first actor to identify the difference between the two modes of communication. The live theatre, which preceded the cinema theatre, demanded a certain energy in the performance of the actors, whereas the cinema theatre demanded subtlety and refinement in the performance of the actors because it was not catering to the immediate response of a live audience. Dilip Saheb’s autobiography, The Substance and the Shadow, meticulously specifies his search for pointers that could help him acquire the finesse he saw in the performances of actors he admired in foreign films he watched during his early formative years at Bombay Talkies. Nonetheless, he did not imitate any actor.
