Babul Supriyo On Jaya Bachchan: ‘She Will Speak Against BJP But She Will Never Say Anything Against Me’

Union Minister Babul Supriyo made a statement that Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan who is campaigning for TMC candidates in the West Bengal Assembly polls might speak against BJP but will never say anything against him. In an interview, Babul Supriyo said, “I welcome her (Jaya Bachchan) in West Bengal. Though I do not have family relations with her, she knows me very well. She will speak against BJP but she will never say anything against me”.
Babul Supriyo mentioned that a big chunk of his career is dedicated to the Bachchans as many of his albums were launched by them and he has always maintained good relations with them. He also said that Jaya Bachchan has been here before for several events but he didn’t know that she would be here for TMC candidates. However, he respects her decision.
BJP has selected MP Babul Supriyo to fight from the Tollygunge Assembly constituency against TMC heavyweight Arup Biswas. According to media reports, Jaya Bachchan will be in West Bengal from 5 April to 8 April for campaigning for the TMC party candidates. On 5 April, Jaya Bachchan will campaign for TMC candidate from Tollygunge Arup Biswas.

According to media reports, Jaya Bachchan may even share the stage with chief minister Mamata Banerjee in a public rally during her stay in the state till 8 April. The actor landed at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on 4 April and was received by senior TMC leaders Derek O’Brien and Chandrima Bhattacharya.

The development comes days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to opposition leaders including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav “for a united and effective struggle against the BJP”s attacks on democracy and Constitution” and suggested that a meeting should be held after the Assembly polls to “deliberate the issues and chart out a plan of action”.
