Carbon
How about going on a journey with an ambitious man who is ready to go to any extent to find a treasure? Carbon , starring Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas, revolves around Sibi, who wants to become rich in no time. Running away from his disappointed parents, he takes up jobs after jobs before ending up at a dilapidated old palace inside a forest-ridden Cheenkannippara. Learning about the legends and myth of the place, he sets out on a journey to find a treasure hidden in the forest. Sibi’s greedy and ambitious journey makes for the best part of the story with a huge pay-off for the viewer. Carbon is sure to stay with you for a while.
Aami
Aami, released in 2018, is a biographical film on the life of the bold and hard-hitting writer Kamala Surayya. Starring Manju Warrier, Murali Gopy, Tovino Thomas, and Anoop Menon in major roles, the movie sheds light on a young Madhavikutty’s life. Her journey through child marriage, life with her children, and her religious conversion make the rest of the story. How a married girl who loves literature goes on a journey of self-discovery to become of the best writers of her time, is inspirational in all manners.
Hey Jude
Set against the scenic backdrop of Goa, Hey Jude makes up for not travelling during the weekend. Starring Nivin Pauly and Trisha Krishnan in the lead, the movie revolves around Jude, an Autism spectrum disorder patient. Jude’s travel to the beautiful setting of Goa and how his life takes the right turns once he meets Crystal makes for the rest of the story. Jude’s journey and his personal growth after his interactions with Crystal are what make the movie special, making us think about the wonders we can do once we overcome our fear and overthinking.

Moothon
Moothon starring Nivin Pauly, Shashank Arora, and Sanjana Dipu, tells the tale of Mulla. A 14-year-old orphan, who travels to Mumbai from Lakshadweep in search of his long-lost brother, Akbar. Mulla ends up at the Kamathipura district and the life he sees around changes him. Meanwhile, his search for his brother and how it all leads to Mulla’s self-discovery is sure to stay with you, for days after watching. Moothon is a rough piece of art that you must watch at least once.
Prathi Poovankozhi
The 2019 thriller drama Prathi Poovankozhi starring Manju Warrier, Rosshan Andrrews, and Anusree tells the story of Madhuri, a working woman who gets on a rampage path to take revenge after getting assaulted by a local rowdy. How she finds the courage to take on a dangerous path after her self-worth is questioned, is an inspiring watch. How she takes her revenge while finding her true self on the path makes the rest of the story. The story of Madhuri is one to think about.
