Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya is a name and face which every household in India knows. Her two quite long and famous shows, “Banoo Main Teri Dulhann” and “Yeh Hai Mohabbatein,” made her one of the favorite bahus in the television industry. If you have seen her recently on Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi, then you know that the “Dhakad” girl is full of surprises.
You might be surprised to know that The Bahu you see all clad in beautiful sarees was actually a TomBoy at heart. She used to wear loose t-shirts and trousers, hand-stitched by her mother. Divyanka’s family was incredibly supportive of her and never tried to force their views. They were given complete freedom to express their opinions and be honest.
Divyanka Tripathi started working as a host on All India Radio (AIR) in her school days, for which she got 800 a day. She then came to know about various competitions and started participating in them.
Divyanka went for Pantene Zee Teen Queen and was awarded the title of Miss Beautiful Skin, 2003. She then went for “India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj” and came 8th from Bhopal Zone. With her never-giving-up attitude, she tried again by applying through the Indore Zone and came out to be the runner-up.
She later achieved the title of Miss Bhopal, 2005.
Divyanka Tripathi originally planned to become an army officer. Her father made her join NCC to support her dreams. She worked hard to be an officer and went to Bhopal Rifle Academy and won a gold medal in shooting. Her love for adventure and the army made her take a course in mountaineering as well.
But then, she started getting opportunities in radio and TV shows, and her career plans took a turn.
She had to convince her parents a bit when she decided to become an actress. They eventually supported Divyanka and her father used to take her to Mumbai for auditions via bus. She started her work with Doordarshan in a telefilm and then in a show called Akash Vani. It took her about two years of patience and perseverance till she got the opportunity to play Vidya and Divya on the famous Zee TV show.
The journey from Vidya to Ishi Maa resembles an elevator ride which only goes up. She did various shows such as a horror one, in Ssshhhh… Phir Koi Hai or a comedy one in Mr. and Mrs. Sharma Allahabad Wale, among others, till she starred on Star Plus.
Divyanka never ceased to play out any opportunity she got throughout her journey and displayed her talents other than acting. The competitive and fun nature of Divyanka could be seen in her several reality show appearances like Khana Khazana and Nach Baliye.
The actress recently was a participant on the show and showcased her guts, stamina to everyone. She went to the show with the mindset that she would never say “abort” and do whatever came ahead. She went there to test her limits, and throughout the show, whenever the actress came across a task, she felt excited to perform it. She lost by 20 seconds and became the first runner-up.
The love she gets on her sets matches the love she receives from her audience. She is well known for her culinary skills and cooks for everyone on the show during shooting.
Although she is a vegetarian, she learned to cook non-vegetarian dishes for her ex-beau Sharadh.
Everyone is aware of the much-loved-hated show Bigg Boss, and the actress has been approached for the show many times since some years. The actress says that she is very sensitive sometimes and volatile other times. This may benefit Bigg Boss but can affect Divyanka Tripathi’s personal life.
Payal, Vidya, Ishi Maa and “Divyanka Tripathi”- her presence on the screen in either character shows her talents and proves she deserves the love she receives from her audience. Hope she continues to entertain her audience through her performances like this.
