The Family Equations
Huma Qureshi comes from a highly prestigious and influential family- The Qureshi’s who run a chain of restaurants called the Saleem’s. Today, being from an influential family is seen as a negative aspect and promotes nepotism. Huma made it clear that she didn’t receive much help from her parents and lived like anybody struggling to make it. She stayed in a small PG in Juhu with four other girls, traveling in rickshaws, and lived on a tight budget.
While her parents were supportive of her dreams, initially, they felt reluctant about the whole thing. Her parents suggested she go abroad and do an MBA instead of being an actor. Huma, however, remained determined and proclaimed “that all my life I’d regret not being able to fulfill my dreams because of him.” It was a shocking statement and made his dad extremely emotional; he took her to Mumbai the next day. His only request was that “If nothing happens in a year, come back to a normal life.”
Studious in Nature
Huma Qureshi is often considered one of the most stylish actresses in Bollywood. She has appeared as a cover model in many fashion magazines, appearing in Cannes and Tv advertisements. Did you know that Young Huma was quite the opposite, and she used to be highly geeky in school, college? She had almost little to no interest in looking pretty, often wearing her dad’s clothes, and used to be a bookworm. Even today, there are more books on her shelves than dresses in her closet.
Intense Sibling Rivalry
Huma and Saqib are siblings that have had constant banter and arguments since childhood. They are incredibly close to one another and often annoy each other as brother, sisters. While growing up, they were both extreme cricket fans, and Saqib used to be a big Tendulkar fan while Huma had Afridis. Each had their idol’s photo on the walls, and one time their argument got so heated they tore each other’s posters. This funny anecdote shows how much they loved each other and how hysterical we all often can be.
#BreathOfLife Covid Relief Initiative
When the second wave hit the Indian shores, it created unprecedented suffering. Huma felt like she couldn’t sit on the sidelines and had to help the people in need. Being a Delhite at heart, she decided to start from her hometown and start a Covid Ward. With the support of the NGO Save the Children, they collected more than two crores in Donations to create a 100-bed camp. All the proceeds went into acquiring critical life supplies and provided psychiatric help for all the people in trauma.
